History Teacher (Middle and Upper School)
Tempo School is seeking to fill a full-time, probationary, teaching
position in History, commencing 1 September, 2008.
Tempo School was founded in 1963 and is located in the Riverbend
district of Edmonton. It is a private, K-12 school that is fully
accredited in the province of Alberta. Tempo offers a traditional,
academic program that includes English, grammar, history, Latin,
mathematics, French, biology, chemistry, physics and geography.
The school has an average class size of fewer than twenty students.
Our students wear uniforms, and we look for high standards of
teaching, learning and student behavior. There are four hundred
students at Tempo School and a teaching staff of thirty.

The successful candidate will:
• Have a demonstrable knowledge history and the teaching
of history
• Be comfortable teaching in a traditional, academic environment.
• Have an excellent command of oral and written English.
• Be comfortable writing curriculum materials when required.
• Have strong classroom management skills.
• Be able to motivate students to reach their potential.
• Possess a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
An under-graduate or graduate degree in history or a related
discipline would be a considerable asset, as would experience
teaching Advanced Placement history to grade 12 students.
