Choose Tempo

Tempo School is unique in a number of ways,.

Tempo’s most obvious difference is its small classes and its low teacher/student ratio. The effect of this is not only that our students receive more individual attention than is possible in larger classes, but also that teachers get to know students well, both in and out of the classroom. Tempo’s is an orderly and safe environment.

Tempo is a traditional school. The clearest indication of this is in the uniforms our students wear and in the high standard of behavior we expect. The school is sometimes noisy, but what is striking to visitors to the school is the concentrated quiet when classes are in session. Tempo has high expectations of its students, and we encourage our students to have high expectations of themselves.

Part of Tempo’s being traditional is that we have avoided the fads and fashions that have swept across the educational landscape. At Tempo, we keep our eye firmly fixed on our goal, which is to lay the intellectual foundations that will allow our students to realize their potential in later life. Tempo teaching employs traditional subjects taught using traditional methods.

What is most distinctive of Tempo is its academic focus. From kindergarten through grade 12, Tempo’s pre-occupation is with intellectual development. Tempo is a school in which a challenging academic program is seen as valuable not only for gifted students, but for all students.
