Members Present: Mrs Cathy Edstrom, Dr. Mitchell, Ms. Harman, Mrs Aubern, Mrs Sanha, Mrs Romney, Mrs Menard, Dr Marjan

Meeting called to order at 1:23p.m.

Mrs Edstrom thanked Ms. Harman, Mrs Romney, Mrs Li for gathering all e-mail addresses which have been entered inot a master spread sheet.

Mrs Edstrom also passed on the positive feedback received for the graduation ceremonies last year and the awards ceremonies.

Mrs Edstrom thanked Mrs Menard and Mrs Chan for the fall used uniform sale

1) Emergency List

Mrs Menard has obtained the updated directory from Mrs Webber. She will have the list compiled by the end of Sept. The emergency lists will be used for emergency situations that occur during school hours such as a lock down, extreme weather condition. Mrs Menard has 10 volunteers that have agreed to call in cases of emergency.

2) Update from Treasurer

Currently in the PAC bank account: $12,312.63
PAC has a money market GIC opened April 24/08 for $10,000. Current value is $10,791.42

Total PAC monies: $23,104.05

3) Discussion of Donation to Tempo from PAC

Dr. Mitchell presented a list of requests from the school. These included:

a) Children’s sized furniture for the junior library ($?)
b) Ceiling-mounted drop down screens for middle school ($200 x 10)
c) Additional overhead projectors and carts ($450)
d) Data projectors ($700-2000)
e) Back up photo-copier ($10,000ish)

Mrs Raj asked about computers in the senior lab and the lack thereof .

Dr Mitchell has looked into new computers and the cost for 20 new computers which would be leased would cost $36,000/year. We would need roughly 20-23 new computers to equip a full senior lab.

Motion proposed to spend no more than $ 5,000 towards A.V. package

The motion encompasses buying 10 ceiling mounted drop down screens for middle school, one additional overhead projector and cart, 1 more data projector which will come with a laptop. Monies will be handed to the school when receipts for purchases are presented.

4) Report regarding collection of email addresses and dissemination of information

255 e-mail addresses compiled. The first P.A.C. monthly letter was sent via e-mail and only 35 addresses bounced back.

Currently there are 219 on the e-mail list and is grade specific.

P.A.C. monthly newsletter will be distributed via e-mail. These will include all relevant dates for various events.

Mrs Romney will pass on the addresses to Dr. Mitchell . The goal is to have the school newsletter distributed via e-mail.

Ms Harman will send a letter to the parents of the bounced back e-mails to request clarification of the addresses.

5) Club Updates

a) Running Club
7 children enrolled (grades 7 and 8)
Ms. Wirzba - running instructor
Ms Wirzba would like to donate all proceeds to PAC

Motion proposed to purchase Tempo Running Club for the children and one MEC shirt for Ms Wirzba in lieu of payment

b) Sewing Club

11 children enrolled
Mrs Forys and (ANYONE KNOWS NINA’S LAST NAME) are sewing instructors
Mrs Forys would like to donate all proceeds to PAC

Motion proposed to purchase gift certificat from sewing supply store in lieu of payment.

c) Drama Club

11 children enrolled thus far.
Starts October 14th
Mr Blouin will run program
Grades 6-8 on Thursdays
Grades 9-11 on Tuesdays

d) Squash Club

Starts October 20th 8 consecutive weeks at Riverbend Athletic Club
Mr Erickson will accompany the children
Grades 7-9 on Monday
Grades 10-12 on Wednesday

Motion proposed to pay for Mr Erikson’s fee should he choose to take the squash lessons

e) Soccer club will proceed as scheduled in the spring and Mrs Menard will coordinate

f) Ski Club

Start November 14th for 8 weeks
Program will run at cost
Ski Club will pay for the cost of bus
Volunteer fee will be instituted valued at $100.00. If three sessions are not completed then the check is cashed.
